Whaling would offer plenty of jobs and a boost to the economy too. So would sealing - thre's a few seal colonies on the West Coast.

But what about the jobs? The economy of Reefton boosted by $400,000 a week for the next 20 years, surely this is of some benefit. A couple of hundred hectares is nothing in the big picture.
